Welcome to Nanticoke
River Marina, Blades, Delaware |
The Nanticoke River Marina is operated by the Blades
Economic Development Corporation (BEDCO) and is staffed
with a dock master.
It is the opinion of many cruisers that the Nanticoke
River is the most beautiful river tributary to the
Chesapeake Bay. The distance to the marina from Buoy 1
in Hooper's Straits is approximately 41 miles. There is
a fair amount of commercial river traffic so it's not
uncommon to encounter tugs and barges while navigating
it's length.

Great Place to Re-Provision

We came in here for just a night or two and ended up
staying five. This is a modern facility with floating
concrete docks, very clean, with a friendly staff.
There are two convenience stores to the north: BP just a
block, with basic stuff, and Royal Farms just a couple
more blocks, with bigger selection including their fresh
fried chicken. For more serious provisioning, a Walmart
Supercenter and a Lowes are 2 miles NNE.
There is a laid-back yacht club on the premises, and it
isn't difficult to get an invitation to Happy Hour on
Wednesdays, or the $10 dinners they have most Friday
nights.
This place goes on our Keeper List, and we'll come back
here any time we're up the Nanticoke. |
